Junior Professional Programme
Die ESA bietet mit dem
vierjährigen Junior Professional Programme (JPP) eine strukturierte
Einstiegsmöglichkeit für junge Fachkräfte mit Masterabschluss und zwei
bis drei Jahren Berufserfahrung, die eine langfristige Karriere im
europäischen Raumfahrtsektor anstreben.
Teilnehmende sammeln praktische
Erfahrung in verschiedenen ESA-Abteilungen, erhalten gezielte
Weiterbildung sowie individuelles Mentoring, mit dem Ziel, sich
langfristig als Fachkraft bei der ESA zu etablieren. Unten bei den

in the water cycle at resolutions compatible with decision making.

Variables & GBF indicators
Budget: 1.2 M€ · Open date: Q2 2025 · In collaboration with GEO BON
and BMCC, this activity aims to develop EO-based solutions for
producing Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBVs) across ecosystems
and integrating them into the monitoring framework of the
Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It will build on
ongoing European and international initiatives to support the
framework’s implementation and indicator development.
- Application innovation in Nigeria -
Support to Climate-Smart Agriculture for Development
Budget: 600K€ · Open date: Q1 2025 · This ITT will be published
through the AfricaEO Space Partnership framework. The ITT will aim
at enhancing of the National Space Research and Development Agency's
(NASRDA) capabilities in applying state-ofthe-art data storage and
processing capabilities for remotely sensed data analysis. It will
focus on advancing agricultural and environmental monitoring systems
to produce policy-based evidence, enabling informed decision-making
in these critical sectors in Nigeria.

for Earth Observation Satellite Measurements Simulation

and validate a multimodal generative foundation model for fast,
high-quality simulation of EO satellite measurements, supporting
future ESA missions and data-scarce cases. Building on recent
advances in generative AI, it seeks to overcome the limitations of
traditional RTM-based simulators by improving data generation
efficiency and flexibility.
- FS-09Distributed AI for federated EO
learning
Budget: n.a. · Open date: Q4 2025 · This activity aims to explore
the use of decentralized AI techniques to leverage the collective
power of EO and mega-constellations, whereby each node of the
network contributes to the overall learning of a big integrated AI
model. This approach is promising to improve scalability, reduced
latency, and enhanced privacy/security (as data can stay localised)
for large constellation systems, where the AI model can continue
operating even if some nodes of the network fail. The initiative
will investigate privacy machine learning and AI safety. In
addition, the perspectives to apply such techniques for large
constellation systems may be investigated.
